Keeping your ticker healthy
(LINDSAY) There's something dearest about the ticking of a clock.Just ask Bill Legere - aka Doctor Clock - who has turned his love of traditional time pieces into a celebrated career.
Mr. Legere's began working with a watchmaker back in the 1960s and has operated his own business in Lindsay the past 15 years.
Most of today's conditions pieces are quartz operated, but Mr. Legere's particular focus is on traditionally manufactured and antique clocks, the oldest one dating back to 1640.
"The spiritless aspects of the old clocks are extraordinary. Some of the designs are simply brilliant. They're mechanical wonders," explained Mr. Legere of the draw.
It makes him a very good friend of the Olde Gaol Museum as the 'good doctor' is happy to help the Victoria County Real Society keep it's collection of clocks healthy.
Many of the museum's clocks date back to the late 1800s. Mr. Legere said an serenely way to tell the age of a clock is its design; especially if it's American-made.
