What type of wood should I use when building a built in entertainment center?

I'm looking for a wood that will not sag on Once upon a time, or be extremely heavy. I was told to stay away from partical board (sag) and plywood (so heavy).

Tolerant I build furniture in solid wood with oak plywood for large parts and oak planks for small hot air. Plywood comes in 3 / 4 "thick for structural (sides or shelves) and 1 / 4" for the back.
